CHECK FIRST. TRAVEL READY.

Is your phone ready for eSIM?

A few quick checks before checkout. Confirm your phone supports eSIM, is carrier-unlocked, and can add a travel plan.

Three checks before you choose

  1. eSIM support: Check the manufacturer’s specifications for your exact model. An Add eSIM option or EID number can help identify eSIM capability.
  2. Carrier unlock: Your phone must accept plans from other providers. Having eSIM hardware does not confirm that it is unlocked.
  3. Regional version: Phones with the same name can have different SIM features depending on where they were purchased. Check the model number as well as the product name.

Check your iPhone

  • Open Settings → Cellular or Mobile Data and look for Add eSIM.
  • Open Settings → General → About and look for an EID.
  • In the same About menu, check Carrier Lock. No SIM restrictions means your iPhone is unlocked.

Many iPhone models from the XS, XS Max, and XR onwards support eSIM, but regional versions differ. Confirm your model using Apple’s eSIM requirements.

If your iPhone is carrier-locked, contact your carrier about unlocking it before buying a travel eSIM.

Check your Android phone

  • Search Settings for eSIM, Add eSIM, Download a SIM, or SIM manager.
  • Check your device information for an EID, following your manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Ask your original carrier to confirm that your phone can use an eSIM from another provider.

Menu names vary between manufacturers and software versions. Use these checks alongside the specifications for your exact model.

Google Pixel

Pixel 3a and later models generally support eSIM, with regional and carrier exceptions. The number of active SIMs and available network features also depend on your device and carrier. Review Google’s Pixel SIM guidance before purchasing.

Samsung Galaxy

Many Galaxy S, Z Fold, Z Flip, and selected Galaxy A models support eSIM. Availability varies by model and purchase region.

Look under Settings → Connections → SIM manager for Add eSIM. Compare the model number in Settings → About phone with Samsung’s supported device guidance.

Other phones and connected devices

For other brands, check the manufacturer’s specifications for your exact model and regional version. For tablets and watches, also confirm that the travel plan supports that type of device before purchasing.

Still unsure? Let’s check together.

Contact esimnexo support with your phone’s manufacturer, exact model number, purchase country, and original carrier. If you include a screenshot of your settings, hide your EID, IMEI, phone number, and other personal details.
